Personally I think the Government is ALREADY too involved in things that they don't have the authority to be involved in. This is another example of the Progressive Left telling the rest of us how WE have to live, though they Don't have to!!! Do as I say, not as I do!!!!
Fine, here is what I think of the subject. Part of a president's and first lady's job is to take up causes. This is theirs. Mrs. Bush was really into child education. I see nothing wrong with it and I do not agree with the bullying defense that it is just something you live with as a kid. I will go back to the eleven year old being arrested. The teachers flip out when it has to do with them but they stay out of it when it is a child. I agree with the president's position on this one thing and conservative or not I think about things per situation.
We all have opinions and are entitled to them. It does not mean we need to accept the opposing view or try to convince others of ours. Why don't we leave it at that. Conservative or progressive views are also opinions, they are not labels for any and all opposing views that disagree with ours. If you wish to pigeon hole opinions that is your prerogative, but it does not help in discussing matters. Frankly, I do not prescribe to either one. Like CG, I take positions on issues based on opinions formed through personal experience and that per se has little to do with left or right views. For the sake of discussion, I'd love to see an issue addressed without resorting to generalized labels to make a point that are too far reaching and inclusive of a variety of other perspectives unrelated to the current issue. I try to respect others, even if I my disagree with their opinions.
I am trying to figure our how the bullying issue is a political issue. It is not. IMO it also should not be allowed to happen. This happened to my daughter at school daily. A group of girls thought it was ok to pick on her and slap her around daily. I finally had enough, when my daughter called me and told me she was not going to continue the bs. So I made the choice to confront the school principal about it and my words were simple. You can either solve this your way or I will solve it my way. You have 3 days to do it. My way would have involved all the parents, the school and the Sheriffs office. It would have involved arresting the perps etc. I would have used the law. Best thing was did not have to do it as it all of a sudden stopped and my daughter could go to school without the BS. This was at PCHS. Back in 2006
