Putting the national debt in perspective

Lets say you are going to spend roughly a million dollars and you are going to do it by spending one dollar per second until you roughly spent a million dollars. How long would that take you?

Answer: About 12 Days

Lets say you are going to spend roughly a trillion dollars and you are going to do it by spending one dollar per second until you roughly spent a trillion dollars. How long would that take you?
Keeping the math simple
60 seconds * 60 Minutes * 24 hours * 365 days * 32,000 years = $1,009,152,000,000
Answer: About 32,000 years

Now lets say you are going to pay down the national debt at the rate of $1 per second how long would that take.
Our national debt is around 14 trillion dollars
60 seconds * 60 Minutes * 24 hours * 365 days * 448,000 years = $14,128,128,000,000
Answer: About 448,000 years

Just remember for every dollar spent, 40 cents of that dollar is borrowed from creditors like the Chinese.

That is why the current budget debate is such a joke. Lets save the poet cowboy my rosie red a**. No matter what the # ends up being, it is barely a rounding error.

It will be interesting to see what the r's propose for the next fy.

Time to start slashing the budget.

And you have to love their solutions. The biggest problem with Social Security is disability. Schools ? To much administration. Government ? To many political jobs. Don't get me started.
