We will be there when you really need help.

The Essentials

The Essentials is a list of items that can save your life in the event of an unexpected outdoor emergency. Along with the Essentials, there are additional items you should consider when going for a back country hike or rescue mission. Summer or Winter, in either case, you will be glad you have them in your pack.

Essentials

1. Map (for the area you are in)
2. Compass (know how to use it)
3. Flashlight/headlamp (be sure to have an extra set of batteries)
4. Extra Food (enough for one extra day, snickers, protein bars, peanut butter)
5. Extra Clothing (include rain gear in this category, extra socks, hat, gloves)
6. First Aid Kit (be sure to include an extra days medication if you are taking any)
7. Pocket Knife (in all the survival books, a good knife is essential for survival)
8. Matches (strike any-where, stored in a water tight container)
9. Fire Starter (can be candles, chemical fire starter, dryer lint, toilet paper)
10. Sunglasses (especially important in winter/snowy conditions)

Other items to consider

11. Space Blanket (this provides a shelter over your head or dry footing beneath you)
12. Toilet Paper (much better than your map)
13. Duct tape
14. Insect Repellent
15. Water purification system (pump, tablets, stove and fuel in winter)
16. Trash bag (used for shelter, rain gear)

Thank you so much for your support by buying the shirts. They are a great read!
If you would just drop me an email we'll get it worked out.
I need to get a picture of the shirt itself and post it...I hope to do that this week.

For you folks that wanted the "Ten+ Essentials for Getting Lost" t-shirts:
mailing them out would have been a problem and cut into what we make on a shirt.
So you can pick them up at Mills Mountaineering in Pine Junction.
If this isn't workable for you because you live in say-Yuma, Arizonia or something like that, then please email me and I'll work out another option.

Your support means alot and keeps us operating.
Ron
