Repairs to four bridges along U.S. 285 in Conifer will potentially help increase the life of the bridges but could slow traffic on the highway through the summer.
The bridge work, which began Monday, includes repairs to the bridge surfaces and drainage in the medians, according to a press release from the Colorado Department of Transportation. Further, CDOT will be adding waterproof membranes to the structures to keep ice from forming and harming the concrete.
The four bridges scheduled for repairs are located at:
• South Turkey Creek Road
• Conifer Road
• Pleasant Park Road
• Kennedy Gulch Road
The work, being done by CDOT crews and ABCO Contracting, Inc., a Denver-based company, is expected to go through late July and is meant to preserve the bridges and extend their lives. While the repairs are being done, one lane of the northbound and southbound side of the highway will be closed at specific times on weekdays.
