By 2050, the greater Denver metro area will have a functioning multimodal transportation system that allows for better air quality. Or, at least, that’s the goal.

The Denver Regional Council of Governments and the Colorado Department of Transportation discussed their long-term transportation goals, present-day factors and other questions with the Clear Creek commissioners during a July 2 work session.

For its 2050 metro vision plan, DRCOG is looking at fiscally possible long-term projects, rather than “pie in the sky” type items, Ron Papsdorf, DRCOG’s transportation planning and operations director, said.

Looking at Clear Creek specifically, he said the employment density and the increasing average age of residents are major issues.
