Mountain Lion In Will O Wisp

I saw a Mountain Lion in Will of Wisp tonight.

I was outside the back of my house with my dogs on leashes. At first I looked across the open space and a man his son walking close with a small white dog. A few minutes later my dogs started to bark (a fearful growl) looking towards the upper trail by the upper pond in Will of Wisp. The mountain lion ran up the hillside going towards Silver Springs Road. I look up towards Silver Springs Road and seen a lady walking her golden retreiver and small child was by her. They were walking to the north going home. This was around 7:30PM tonight.

Folks!! Be careful! There were also a pack of coyotes hanging around the open space close to the upper pond for almost a month now. At night, early in the morning. There has been many reports of people seeing mountain lions in Will O Wisp any time of day.

Give them the space and respect wildlife.

Upon sitting and watching over the area your talking about Mountainsky i have seen several Mountain Lions in the last week at all times of the day. They have infiltrated the people walking the trail in the open space and i say this because i have seen the Mountain Lion right by people, pets and children walking along that trail. I believe i have seen multipule cats in the last 2 weeks of different sizes along with a lot of Coyotes one of which ran by my window with something bloody in it's mouth. If i had children they wouldnt be outside unattended right now in Wisp, i dont even let my pets out side without me being right there. I have no fear of wildlife but with as many Lions as i have seen latly in Wisp i am concerned to say the least.

Mt. Lion, Green Valley was seen last week, the deer are back so it's moved on...

"In the United States, very large ranges have been reported in Texas and the Black Hills of the northern Great Plains, in excess of 775 km2 (300 sq mi).[45] Male ranges may include or overlap with those of females but, at least where studied, not with those of other males, which serves to reduce conflict between cougars. Ranges of females may overlap slightly with each other. Scrape marks, urine, and feces are used to mark territory and attract mates. Males may scrape together a small pile of leaves and grasses and then urinate on it as a way of marking territory.[34]"

Makes sense...
BTW, A Males when a male urinates, his smell,(muscky like elk, but not stop ya in your footsteps, I don't know how to put in words, slightly sweet, But my nose is pretty messed-up, (another story younger years), is totally diferent than a bear (Not as bad), deers (very faint), & elks (like walking into a wall). You'll know it when ya smell it, and I would suggest, back down from where ya smell it...

IMO, best site...
"A single male lion may require up to 175 square miles of territory for its home range. They prefer wild areas frequented by deer. One lion will consume about one deer per week."

And i thought the lions were all over here in burland. Mating occurs anytime of year and lately we have had the nightly screaming of amorous sweet nothings by the lions with the red fox adding to the cacophony. It makes it a lot easier to tell fox from lion.

Stay safe!
