We have a pretty old house and some of our cedar siding is bad and needs to be replaced. We've received quotes from a couple of contractors. The biggest difference is that one told us we can replace only the bad siding, a board here or there, and they can get it to match the old siding so that you really can't tell. We were told by another one that there is really no way to match the color of the old siding so it would look really bad to replace a few boards and we should replace the entire wall. Who is right? We're talking a several thousand dollar difference here.
My cedar is 15 years old and I have sections removed last year for a project. It was replaced with new cedar and I had the whole house stained. You can't tell where the old is or the new begins.
