Becky, I seemed to miss this whole darn thread when it started, so glad for the recent bump by Ang. I'm sooooo glad to hear that a) things have worked out so well for your mom and she found a place she'll be very happy in and b) you're coming home! Yay!! Good news indeed. (And I totally understand the awesome hubby support - I've told mine he's racked up so many points the last 3 weeks that I'm not allowed to get mad at him for 5 years. Of course, we'll see how that goes, but he's got witnesses to remind me.)
Are you home yet? If so, Welcome Back!!!!! (If not, welcome back soon!)
edited to add: just found the other thread that says you're home, so definitely Welcome Home!

Several years ago when we had our family reunion, one of the cousins created a DVD video about my great-grandma (who was called Nana). She kept a diary for a number of years, and this cousin read the entries as photos of her life were shown in slide-show fashion with other graphics interspersed and several songs. The end of the show was a montage of Nana's descendants' photos to a fantastic song.
This was shown to all at the reunion and several people got copies of it. There were a lot of people with tears in their eyes at the end of the show. What a fantastic tribute to one of our ancestors!
Becky thank you for the update. Just the other day we were talking about a recalcitrant aunt who said she wasn't interested in any assisted living facilities. Perhaps just approaching it like you did - just to see what all the talk is about would be a good intro and then look at some over a set period of time.

One thing I learned is that you can before you commit. You can pay for a respite stay.
One thing that we did was go have lunch on a Saturday and take a tour. My Mom enjoyed the lunches and she learned a lot about what she liked and disliked along the way. One of the best Assisted Living Facilities I have seen here in Denver is Morningstar off of Kipling. It is a wonderful facility with a great layout. My Mom is on a waiting list there just in case my siblings fail to keep their promises.
