Quickly tossed together to post.
During the storm today, the mom had taken refuge under that Douglas Fir and had sent her two cubs UP. When she started heading toward the house, I let her know that I was there. If you watch at :27 seconds, you'll see her do the black bear charge/huff. So, I made lots of noise and she went up the tree as well. If you turn up your volume you'll hear her complaining - groaning and doing that hyper-huff that I talked about when I was going to bury the bat. Could you imagine walking up that hill, not knowing a bear and her cubs are up there and hearing that noise?!?!?!
If you watch her get to a place in the branches, she just plops her hind leg over and plops down on that branch, rests her front legs and settles her chin on another branch. After this last disturbance, she got the youngin's down and out of her within about 15 minutes.
Holy cow, Ang, that's some great video! (Although I laughed out loud when right as she did the charge/huff your camera angle shot upwards, then realized you were getting her up in the tree.)

We've watched a lot of the Bluff videos - they're pretty amazing! (Amazing translates to freakishly scary when it's in your back yard)
