Using a Tank to Solve Parking Problems - Video!

So the mayor of this little town in Lithuania, who is apparently an avid cyclist, found a new way to deal with people who park their cars in bike lanes! rofllol rofllol

"What should the city do with drivers who think that they are above the law? It seems that a tank is the best solution."

(Yes, it was staged - can you imagine the outrage if that happened in the U.S. to someone's Mercedes and the lawsuits that would follow?!)

Nothing says "DON'T PARK HERE" like a car crushed by an armored troop carrier crushing your car (no, it's not a tank)! I suppose it would be more reasonable to tow and impound people's cars but there is a lot less legislation and administration in just crushing the car on the spot.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Wow, you get around for a sailor. I was wondering about that but thought I would let a ground pounder comment.

Yeah well "armored troop carrier" didn't fit in the title space limits! I did the best I could with what I had to work with (ask my husband - he'll say it's the story of my life dealing with him!) rofllol

I spent more years than I want to admit to sailing the sand and the coasts of eastern Africa and Southwest Asia. Soviet/Russian/Chinese hardware isn't that hard to spot and anyone who follows what the "bad guys" drive is easy to find on the tubes of the Internets.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

The correct terminology is Armored Personnel Carrier which is abbreviated as APC in military jargon, so no I didn't get it right either. The vehicle in the video is most likely a BRDM3 http://warfare.ru/?lang=&catid=245&linkid=2574 Most people don't need to know that but it might be helpful if you get in to a topic specif discussion.

I know, I was being nice not correcting you too! Just kidding! The Grist article that I linked to at the bottom of the original post stated it was an armored personnel carrier in the article, but they said tank in the title - apparently they have space issues with title lengths too! lol

Ya better watch out. Fox used your clip and also called it a tank. Before you know it they will be calling you a teabagger.
