5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Volunteer participation is a critical element to the success of contingency training exercises. Our exercise will be a simulated airplane crash with mass casualties that will include elements of realism. We are seeking 100 volunteers over the age of 18 to play the role of passengers, friends and relatives.
Denver International Airport will be conducting the DIA 2011 Full Scale Exercise Operation Orion on Wednesday, August 24. In the event of an unanticipated emergency, the exercise will be re-scheduled for Wednesday, August 31.
DIA Operations Training and Emergency Design section is leading this exercise initiative with representatives from Airport Security, Denver Police, Denver Fire, Medical Examiners, Delta Airlines, Office of Emergency Management, and Transportation Security Administration. An exercise scenario has been developed to meet the following objectives.
Meet the FAA Part 139 Full Scale Exercise requirement
Test plans and procedures
Identify improvements
Volunteers will be required to follow safety and security guidelines that will be provided, will be subject to search while on airport property and should be prepared to spend a significant amount of time outside. Also, you may have to stand for long periods of time. More detailed information will be provided to participants.
