That IS most certainly a TEXAS chicken fried steak.
Ideally fried in bacon grease and the gravy is white (also from bacon grease drippings.)
There is an art to cooking white cream gravy from scratch......this opinion comes from a natural born Texan who can give anyone a run for their money on cooking an authentic chicken fried steak.
Good thing I know how to make it too - all you can get around these parts is country fried steak, which is not acceptable when you're craving the breading. If you're gonna clog your arteries, do it right!
