SUMMIT COUNTY - A CenturyLink fiber line was cut Monday afternoon, knocking out cellular phone and landline service to customers across a large area of Colorado's high country.

CenturyLink spokesman John Hall told 9NEWS the line was broken between Dillon and Frisco, but field crews have not yet identified the exact location or cause of the interruption.

According to Hall cellular service for AT&T, Cricket, T Mobile, Sprint and Verizon has been impacted.

It is unclear how widespread the outage is but it appears to stretch from South Park, in the central mountains, to Routt County, in northwest Colorado.
