Fall Back an Hour Overnight

When you set your clocks back tonight replace your smoke alarm and CO alarm batteries and test them while you are at it. It's a good way to ensure that your smoke and CO alarms have power and are working correctly.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Slideshow: Daylight Saving Time Explained

The idea of daylight saving time was introduced in 1918, when Congress formally approved the time zones the U.S. railroad industry had been following since 1883, according to National Geographic. Part of the 1918 law also legislated for the observance of daylight saving time nationwide, but that section was repealed and the matter left to local jurisdictions a year later in 1919.

Overview of countries

While the adoption of Daylight Saving Time is almost always rife with controversy, most of the world (except for countries around the Equator) has implemented DST at one point or another. This map depicts countries that currently have DST, that previously had DST, and that never had DST.

Incidents and Anecdotes

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Martin, the next thing you're gonna tell me is that the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and Pro Wrastlin are all fake...

Having standardized time (UTC or Zulu if you prefer) and time zones has always made sense to me. If you want to see the sun more often all you have to do is get up earlier or later depending on the time of year, and the number of daylight hours changes over the seasons so the fact is there is no way to "save" that time. How any of this daylight savings nonsense saves anyone money or energy or anything is a myth to me.

I seem to recall some sort of safest drivers list being published this summer that rated Fort Collins first in the nation or very close to the top...

FORT COLLINS - Switching the clocks back from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time in the fall requires an adjustment for everyone, including motorists, who have to get used to driving home when it's darker.

However, the change can prove dangerous for commuters.
According to the Fort Collins Bike Co-op, the earlier sunset typically causes an increase in vehicle-versus-cyclist and pedestrian accidents for the first few weeks after the time change in the fall.

In order to avoid accidents, the co-op encourages bikers and motorists to avoid distractions while driving and obey all traffic laws, including having visible reflectors or lights on the front, back and side of their bicycles.

I rise to see as many sunrises as I can from my deck, I also like to see the sunsets.(Great Spirit only gives us so many)
Nothing like sitting on top of a mtn at sunrise or sunset.
And regardless of how man manipulates "time" it will still be the same in nature.

what I have determined. No matter which weekend the guvment desides to switch the clocks, I still have to go through another period of driving for an hour down the hill with the sun blinding me. I suggest that daylight savings time be changed so I only have to go through this blinding sun period twice a year (spring and fall) instead of four times a year (standard time spring, daylight saving time spring, standard fall, and daylight saving fall.) There, I am done ranting about that, just somebody fix the problem. :Thanks:

Pick one, preferably DST IMO, and stay with it.

I agree about the agony of driving into it several times a year, although thankfully I no longer have to go through that.

I think car accidents increase around this time because people are changing their car clocks while driving.
