Denver among top cities for holiday lights
7:10 PM, Nov 23, 2011

Denver has so many notable displays that it's ranked in the top five of Yahoo Travel's list of top 10 destinations for holiday lights.

Denver came in behind only Baltimore, Branson, Missouri and Chicago, as Yahoo Travel noted the lights at the city and county building, the Denver Botanic Gardens' "Blossoms of Lights" exhibition and the Denver Zoo's "Zoo Lights."

So we're hanging out in downtown Denver this weekend and we watched the Parade of Lights last night from our 10th floor hotel room. The pictures aren't the greatest (sorry about that), since it's my iPhone and 10 stories up, but the kids loved it! The parade is happening again tonight at 6pm if you want to come see it for yourself! Here's a map and more information about the parade.

The Bengals were in town! :)

The first band - we liked the lights on the uniforms. There were many bands and they all seemed to have trouble staying in formation for some reason.

My favorite band cuz it had blue lights! lol

Every parade must have a dragon of course.

Our favorite float - it spun!

The 9News float. Hubby was sad b/c he wasn't close enough to see if Adele was on it.

The clock in the center rose up on this one

I was wondering if this was the Denver Post balloon...

We just like the lights

My daugher insisted on including a photo of this one because of the pink lights. :)

Another band - the girls were dancing with light hoops

Dogs with lights! There was another set of dogs who were chasing frisbees that their humans were throwing - that was cute too!

Rudolph! Rudolph got clotheslined just before this shot when the holders forgot to pull it under street wires at the entrance of the intersection - they had to back up and pull it down. D'oh!

Santa finished the parade!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Pretty cool event, the last time we were at event was in 2007 and let me tell you it was frick'n cold. It definitely was worth it for us spending the evening in town and enjoying the many restaurants with awesome libations.
