Want a good relationship with your PC?

Owning a PC can be a rewarding and frustrating experience. Sometimes the run fast and sometimes they run slow... sometimes they do what we want and sometimes they seem to have a mind of their own. Overall a PC is a great tool that can do amazing things in a remarkably short period of time and can provide hours of entertainment, but they have one weakness…Us! That’s right Us, You, Me and any human that touches one. In the following article I will share with you some insights on your PC and how you can improve your relationship with them.

GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out)
This is a great relationship building term to know it you want to get along with your computer. A computer is bunch of metal, aluminum, silicone and other elements that does absolutely Nothing until you tell it to. A computer carries out instructions you give it…exactly the way you give it. That means if you give your computer bad instructions it will give you bad results, In other words GIGO. Computers receive instructions from us in the form of programs that we use. Word processing, Spreadsheets, Photo programs and such all tell a computer to do certain things. Every time we click on our mouse or type on our keyboard we are sending instructions to the computer. Learn the programs you want to use and your computer will return the favor by giving you great results.

Mountain Computing Tips….
Living in the mountains can be very rewarding; what with our clean air, beautiful scenery, wildlife and cooler temperatures and it can have its downside as far as our PC’s are concerned.
Let’s face it….We have a lot of dirt up here and it is not good for our computers. Nowadays the amount of power we are getting from our computers is amazing, but it creates a lot of heat. Our computers have cooling fans and heat sinks in side of them that can get jammed with dust and dirt which causes them not to be able to cool your computer. When this happens your PC will slow down or halt completely and can be fatal to your Unit. Do yourself a favor and buy some canned air and blow out your PC regularly….Your computer will thank you.
In the mountains we sometimes have problems with our power and lightning strikes, both of which can put your PC in a foul mood. There are three issues surrounding power we should go over.
1) Power outages can cause your computer to shutdown improperly causing damage to the Operation System and the Hardware.
2) Power Surges from lighting strikes and recovery from power outages can cause harm to your hardware and system.
3) Brownouts and inconsistent voltage can cause your computer to react badly as they need consistent voltage especially nowadays with the sensitivity of high performance desktops and laptops.
Solution…
Buy at least a good surge protector. They usually start at 40 to 50 dollars. I highly recommend a UPS (Uninterruptable Power System) as this will give you battery backup as well as line conditioning for your PC.
