He asked to pay something on his bill because he knew he wouldn't be able to afford it all before Christmas. Then a mysterious woman stepped up to the counter.
"She told him, 'No, I'm paying for it,'" recalled Edna Deppe, assistant manager at the store in Indianapolis. "He just stood there and looked at her and then looked at me and asked if it was a joke. I told him it wasn't, and that she was going to pay for him. And he just busted out in tears."
Talk about inspirational and making your gifts have a full impact. I love it. Merry Christmas to all who are in need. May your accounts find benefactors.
I'm so proud of Destiny our daughter who decided that the hundred dollars she had would better benefit those in need and paid down on several people's layaway accounts. What a girl. What a beautiful heart.
Conduct we should all aspire to duplicate to the extent any of us can!
Most of my RAKs happen in airports, I love intercepting wait staff on their way to pay off a check for a group of traveling service members or a young family. I hand the wait person enough cash to cover the bill and a generous tip and ask that they not acknowledge it was me when they return to the original customers. No need to isolate this practice to the Christmas season - if you can do so all year long!
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

This reminds me of a thread RAK a few years ago on Pinecam. I love that kind of stuff, so my wife and I have spent most of the evening identifying recipients of RAK or "Super Santa" Nothing like watching someone come in to pay for their layaway expecting to pay a certain amount and discovering that they only owed a small fraction. Not understanding, the service rep then explained to them that Super Santa had paid down their account. With the considerable assistance of the service reps, we managed to identify and help a number of other people as well. It was fun, so we've decided tonight that we will save up a fund to help more people who really need it in this way.
When we came back last night the same cashiers were there and one of them told us about a lady who was a recipient of my daughter's generosity and that she was in tears because she was so over-whelmed.
While we were there we got to see the reactions of some people that didn't know it was us and some that did because we were there discreetly choosing those with toys. We were there for a few hours and not only were privileged enough to do some good deeds, but also to connect with different people. The range of emotions was like nothing I've ever personally witnessed myself. We might even make a visit to a KMart in a few days and see if there is another opportunity for us. The stories I've been reading are just too wonderful.
