anyone know the diamond market?

Here's the situation - I'm going to purchase a loose diamond.

I don't need it until March.

Question - do diamond prices fluctuate?

I found some decent prices for the cut/clarity/color/size that I want (bluenile.com).

Bluenile beat shaneco (my usual go-to source) by about 10 percent.

Will the prices go down after Valentine's day - or is this like Christmas - with the big sales right around the peak season?

If you're familiar with diamond markets - would appreciate your input/opinion.

You may know this, but there are today excellent synthetics (actually the Russians perfected the tech) Most jewlers cannot tell the difference. The natural merchants now provide a cert of authenicty and most large stones are etched.

Good fortune - prices spike before valentines and Xmas.

I found a diamond price index, which suggests that prices will go down in a couple of weeks - and usually stay down for March-May.

So - will wait ---- I don't need my diamonds, immediately.

A gemologist can spot the fake sitting across a dinner table. Clearly you don't know gemologist and believe what you read on the Internet.

I am curious are you saying a russian cut diamond from Trice is a synthtic stone?

Do your research, go to several stores and have them show you what to look for in a diamond, color, clarity, authenticity, flaws. After you have gone to several stores, you will know which ones are "legit," so to speak, and want the best for their customers. Good stores want to educate you on diamonds or whatever other stones you are interested in.
