I hate to say this but most accidents in the mountains are in direct relation to people NOT respecting nature and I believe most of them could be avoided. Not all accidents but many of them. He was very lucky.
Nah, why not charge straight up a hill at full speed on a snowmobile in unfamiliar territory? What's the worst that could happen?

we did it years ago in Familiar territory, started an avalanch, and were able to run uphill in another direction to avoid it.
