Yea! Got ta thinking since these things are remotely controled, and the "plan" as I understand it, the company will decide when you are not at peak times and will remotely turn off/(or useage down) your electricty. What if you're sick at home and they cut your power? You'll have ta call in sick to the boss, but the power company as well. So, your heat, TV, Oven, Water (if on a well)... doesn't go off during you're non-peak times. Get the hell out of MY LIFE A-holes!!!!
Here you go TPP, another news article, this one on PBS
The part I liked best is "...is a provision that people who want to keep their old meters can do so, provided they pay a $75 fee and $10-a-month charges to opt out of the smart meter program." Sound familiar? A "fee" to opt out.
The smart meter is yourself..duh, just use energy wisely. I hardly ever use my clothes dryer, shut down the hot water heater when gone, unplug everything for lightning, etc. My electric bill is usually $40. Sometimes I even hit the $24 IREA minimum.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Like I would beleive ANYTHING coming from PBS, or you for that matter.
I thought you knew me better than that.
I want to use up all the enegry I can before it's ALL GONE!!!!
:nyah:
Speaking of which, algore's swirly lamp, died. experiment complete, if you leave a swirly lamp on 24/7 it will last 24 months, if you switch in on and off you'll get about 2 month (I think, if I remember), O and you still have Hg in you're house. So, don't break them. I'm HAPPY to say that we NO LONGER have Hg in our house, & have plenty of NORMAL NON-Hazardous lamps. :nyah:
