This is an important topic to us as well. Not only does the study of martial arts help those who are bullied build the self-confidence and skills required to effectively handle a bullying situation without violent action, but it can also help those who are the bully-ers. Those who feel the need to empower themselves by picking on others, or to act out aggression (for whatever reason) inappropriately.

We are having a Masters' Seminar for our students on anti-bullying this Saturday, March 31st at 11am. If you would like us to come present this seminar to your organization, we'd be more than happy to, please contact us.

CTI Masters' Seminar

The CTI Masters' Seminars are training seminars designed to focus on specific areas in Moo Sul Kwan martial arts. Different CTI Master Seminars include; Poomse, Sparring, One-Step Sparring, Self-Defense, Staff Work, Breaking, Instructor Training and others.

If you haven't already watched the trailer for the movie "Bully", here's a link to an article that has it featured:

Moving in and of itself. Schools, parents, students - this should be required viewing in my opinion. TEACH PEACE!

New software to fight cyberbullying

WebSafety, Inc. (WBSI) is a pure play on the only story hotter than social media.

WBSI's software fights "cyberbullying" -- the dark side of the social web.
It's trending so hard they even ripped on it in this week's South Park cartoon!

Martin, do you have a direct link to their website? I Googled a combination of different names and haven't been able to get to the actual site - only sites that are for investing. There's a ton of software out there to help in the fight to end bullying, so if this is a good one, I'll post the link on my website and facebook pages. Also, I don't watch South Park, so don't really understand what you mean when you say they "ripped on it". Could you explain what that means, please?

ZHawke I don't know how I could have missed this. Must have been too preoccupied with the fire. Great thread. Thanks for all the info.

You're welcome. I'll keep it coming as I find it, but I'd also suggest you visit our website and facebook page. The FB page is public, so you don't even need to have an account to view the stuff there. All materials on the website are free and always will be. The registration requirement is for anyone wanting to post in our Forums section. Please consider contributing your expertise, knowledge, experiences, whatever because this is what these two sites are all about - dialogue.

Started a blog of my personal experiences with the shooting at Columbine High School April 20, 1999. Not totally certain where this blog will lead, so didn't even "BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND". Instead, I'm using this journal as "therapy" of sorts, and hope the journey is worthwhile.

I'm inviting anyone who might be interested in sharing their stories to visit the blog and post them there. We ALL have stories to tell, but may not have had the opportunity in the past to actually share them. Here is the intro to the first of my comments:

Back on April 20, 1999, my life, and the lives of so many others, changed forever. This was the day in history when the word "Columbine" would become etched in virtually everyone's minds, some more so than others. I was in Seattle on my way back to the airport when I heard the news that a tragedy was unfolding at Columbine High School, the school my two kids were attending. An irate supervisor called a colleague's cell phone to let me know I had forgotten my cell phone (not to happen again), and that there was shooting going on at my kid's school. He didn't know any more than that, and he told me I needed to stay in touch as I learned more (he would do the same). Carla called to let me know that Anne Marie had been injured (she thought it was an ankle wound), and Nathan's whereabouts were still unknown. Damn!

And here is the intro to the second set of comments:

It had already been a very, very long day - all day long. I had no idea what to expect beyond what I already knew, and that wasn't much. I had so many questions to ask Marc, but didn't even know where to begin, or whether he would even be able to answer if I did ask. As we left the airport, Marc kept tuning to different radio stations to see if there was any additional information that might shed some light on what was going on. It all seemed to me to be a blur, surreal, as if it was a dream, not real at all. I mean, traffic was normal, no one seemed in a hurry to get anywhere (other than me). How in the world could something this horrific be happening? All I could think of at that moment was Nathan. How would he be taking all of this? Marc told me about how he found Nathan. Marc was waiting at Leawood Elementary School where the kids from Columbine were being taken for debriefing. Nathan was on the last bus. Marc saw him in the crowd and went to get him. The police weren't releasing anyone until after they'd been debriefed, but Marc insisted on taking Nathan because of what he knew of Anne Marie's condition. After dropping Nathan off, Marc came to the airport to get me. That's when I thought of Carla. She'd been diagnosed in 1996 as having delusional paranoia with psychotic episodes, and had been on medications to help control her condition ever since. My heart was in my throat thinking about the possibilities - would she be able to handle this? Would she go off? How would she react? Only time would tell. An uncertain path lay ahead.
