For the DIA Travelers Here: Traffic Snarls Starting Soon

My hubby travels 1-2 weeks/month usually, so this won't be any fun for the next several months, but c'est la vie. Heads-up to those of you who fly United on a regular basis, the West side will be affected first. The dates listed below are likely to change as airport officials work with the airlines and modify their plans (they originally wanted to close access to the west side entirely, but the airlines balked), so if you have to go there, check for updates and add extra time to your trip.

Denver airport expansion project expected to disrupt access

Getting in and out of Denver International Airport will get more complicated as construction work for the south terminal expansion ramps up during the next few months.

The plan presented to City Council committee Wednesday was to shut down level 5 west, which handles ground transportation, for nine months, and level 6 west, where passengers get dropped off, for 10 months, both starting April 12. Level 4 west, where passengers get picked up, would close for 11 months starting April 25. Williams noted Wednesday that once the west side was finished, everything would shift over and the east side would close.

"There is not a great time to do it," Schiavone said. "What we are hoping for is that if we rip the Band-Aid off and get it all done in a condensed time frame, it will lessen the impact on the public."

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Progress needs to happen. Just prepare yourself. The good side of this article is that traveling traffic must be up? Or, is this an "Obama waste more money" project? I would like to think - the former.

Thanks for the warning SC, We always use one of the long term pay lots and take the shuttle. I hate airports! ughhh. We use this one with AAA discount. http://www.usairportparking.com/
