(March 19). The foothills were slated for snow showers, and temps in the low 30s/high 20s.
(that's not what really happened, unfortunately).
In any event, if I was reading the March 19 weather forecast, I likely would have authorized a burn, too.

How about they have to do like individual homeonwers in Parkco must do - have some snow on the ground before having a burn.
March is usually a windy month. It is just stupid to be doing anything when it is so dry out - government or individual.
Several years ago, don't remember the name of the fire, but the USFS, not the State Forest Service, did a burn during the winter in the Lost Park Wilderness and it reignited months later.
There has to be more responsibility taken after the burns or don't do them. Use a chipper instead. Better air to breathe that way too!

I find it interesting that the very same posters who rail against the ability of ordinary citizens to seek damages from corporate misdeeds want unlimited liability against taxpayers.
