Seems like there is alot controversy regarding this. My apologies for not posting before the meeting. High Timber Times will be writing a story on it I believe.

A hearing is planned for April 3, 2012 before the Jefferson County Commissioners to allow a commercial slash site on Pleasant Park Road between the Grange and US285. 40 - 60 trucks daily are expected. We are concerned about noise, dust, debris and traffic and feel a project of this type does not belong in a residential area. They will also be running the facility on weekends. Thanks for posting. With all the hiway problems early this morning, I am hoping that all those headed down to tajmahal made it safe and sound.

Later I am told there will be a video recording to view but would like to have some feedback from anyone who attended. Thanks.

I'm amazed at the "40-60 trucks daily". That's an astounding amount of slash and makes me wonder where they got those figures.

Any number would be too many considering there are enough Jeffco Road and Bridge trucks barreling down Pleasant Park Road for years. Complain and they might go the speed limit for a couple of days and then back to don't care. Residents don't need more.

Commissioner Don Rosier spoke about this project during his presentation at the Conifer Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Meeting back in February. You can see all the notes from the meeting in this thread , but here are the pages that pertain to this site development (bottom half of the first, top half of the second). Sorry, they are a little hard to read. I still have the originals if anyone's interested I can make them a PDF and email them to you - just PM me your address.

bottom left white-ish area in corner. Outlined area above bought by county for expansion. Slash site new and improved immediately above old site. Looking at developing possible road along Elk Creek (trout pond) to facilitate truck traffic.

I see that Jeffco's indicating a slash location on Parker above the current county shops. Wonder what the story is on that.

Spoke to a person who stayed with us during the Lower North Fork Fire. He says it is continued to do a noise study.

Have to give these folks credit for being resilient. Lose your home in a fire or back from an evac and then make a harrowing drive on the hiway to get to the 8 a.m. meeting this morning. Talk about having to drive far out of the way to get around all the road problems. My hats off to you!

Update from JeffCo Board of Commissioners Hearings & Staff Briefings:

Special Use for Tree and Slash Recycling Station Continued

At the April 3 Board of County Commissioners (BCC) hearing, a special use that would allow for a type II recycling transfer station was continued to May 8. During this time the applicant is required to conduct a sensory impact study to determine the base levels of noises on the property. The BCC also instructed the County Attorney's Office to draft a resolution, that will be up for adoption at the April 17 BCC hearing. stating the purpose of the continuation.

The site is located in the area around Pleasant Park and US 285 and is zoned Agricultural-two. The property consists of three parcels that combined are 57 acres. The property owners have asked for the special use so that they could operate a recycling center for slash such as trees and brush.
