Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who designed the first 911 sports car and went on to found a consumer products design firm that also carried the Porsche name, died Thursday in Salzburg, Austria.  He was 76.

I drove some Porsches late last year. Nice ride. Really nice.

I test drove a 914 in '72. I was ready to buy until the test drive - the brakes really sucked!!

I know it is unfair to rate a brand based on one vehicle, which wasn't even a 'pure' Porsche, but the experience soured me on them.

I ended up buying a Volvo 1800E, the best vehicle I ever owned! lol

Driven a few. Comfort was not a priority. Have a client that races them.
RIP Mr Porshe.

I had to look it up because I recalled Ferdinand Porsche developed the VW Beetle in the 1930's for Hitler. But this Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was too young for that.

Now I see that Ferdinand Alexander (son of Ferry) is the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche. Just some history.

Don't think I've ever driven a Porsche. Darn. Is it still the preferred mid-life crisis car? lol

Never drove a pepper porshe, don't really consider them to be a sports car and Ferdinand probably didn't care for them either.
