JeffCo Sheriff Searches For Suspect In Animal Cruelty Case
April 26, 2012

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are hoping someone has information about an animal cruelty case that will lead them to a suspect.

At about 2:20 p.m. on April 5 JeffCo’s dispatch center received a call concerning a driver of a vehicle that appeared to have thrown something furry with a tail out of the window as they were driving on westbound C-470 near Alameda. JeffCo Animal Control officers rushed to the area and found a dead black cat in the road.

The original caller to JeffCo dispatch described the vehicle as a “sporty looking” light blue Mercedes with a California license plate of SKARGO. A computer check of the plate is listed to a 1987 Ford for a parts company in California.

The driver was described as a heavy set white male or female with longer brown hair. The caller told authorities that they witnessed the cat being thrown from the window and was certain it wasn’t an accident but an intentional act. Anyone with additional information regarding this crime is urged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tipline at 303-271-5612.

Please note that the vehicle description and license plate are being quoted because it came from a news story, and the sheriff's office is requesting information pertaining to an illegal act involving this vehicle, personal information does not apply in this case. Thanks.

rofllol very funny, except now that I get over laughing about it, it is very sad. I wouldn't mind seeing the ACO who does nothing and is married to the fired deputy get out. Too many who have to go.

As for the animal cruelty, i hope they get him/her. Couldn't they just leave it at a shelter if they didn't want it. Probably would have been too hard.

Yes very sad indeed, I am looking forward to seeing how well Jeffco handles this. That poor animal could of been adopted out instead of what was done to iit. Cagney and Lacey from Park co. would blow the case somehow, even with all the proof handed to them.

Try Toody and Muldoon. They're buffoons, if that's the direction you're going.
