well - I just had the absolute worst flight I've ever had!
I fly from Durango to Denver and back a few times a year - been doing it for awhile.
Yesterday - had the worst flight I can remember!
40-50 mph headwinds ---- dust
some moisture ---- and a young, determined pilot --- who decided to confront the elements head on.
The pilot had the flight attendant sit down as soon as we approached the front range ---- and then - it started.
Bang --- slam ---- swoop
whine
yo-yo
(gasp). Those were the plane sounds. Then --- the passengers
sounded off
Man --- I never knew people could barf so many different ways ----
"bleu......." (the french pronounciation)
"buawwwwk...."
"nyeeeeeeettt" (sounds like a Russian barf to me)
"ralph....." (I didnt' know your name was Ralph, man.....)
"yaaaw....." (cowboy pronounciation - most likely texan sub-species)
Fortunately, the flight attendant did a good job of pre-stocking the airline bags in the seat backs.
(she must have known --- wish they'd told us!)
After 40 long minutes, the turbulence abated, and the LaPlata mountains came into view.
"Ladies and gentlemen..... we're beginning our descent.... please fasten your seatbelts"
(um - we've been there, doing that since the plane took off, dude.....)
"we hope you had a pleasant flight" (yeah right......)
I don't recall seeing such elation in all of my travels. Now I understand the lipstick on the ground just at the end of the boarding ramps......
Humorously, the phone rings this morning, with an invitation to fly up to a meeting in Denver to discuss another obscure, meaningless topic. Nothing doing, bud. I'm staying on terra firma .
