Tried to take a pic of this insect but they didn't come out. It looks gray 1/4 to 1/2 inch and digs out dirt leaving little divets. Maybe works mostly at night as the little holes are often seen in the morning. Thanks. Probably has been asked and answered before.

But then you just get to see the business end of the ant lion. If you're good at it, when they strike the stick you can pull 'em out of the dirt and get a good look at 'em.
