Those pics in the springs got their attention. I have lived here my whole life and I have never seen a fire get that close to a city. Also, remember too, down here it seems like every time we get a house fire it burns the house next to it as well. We have had two of those in the last couple weeks. A little rain helped but I wonder how long the relief will last.
A firefighter told Colorado Springs Gazette reporter Ryan Maye Handy today that during a briefing, crews learned that 200 to 300 homes have been lost. He said it was difficult to be accurate about the number, since the devastation is so complete that you can’t even make out addresses.
the developers should not be allowed to build homes on top of homes in the foothills in the forests...there is no defense-able space for wildfires that happen. and they will happen
