EMS-PROVIDER
VOLUNTEER POSITION
The Elk Creek Fire Department is expanding the volunteer opportunities for those wishing to serve the Elk Creek Fire Protection District by creating an EMS-Provider position. EMS-Providers will respond to the public’s medical emergencies, and help staff our ambulances. This is not a firefighting position, however EMS-Providers will work side by side with Elk Creek Firefighters.
PREREQUISITES:
Be at least 18-years of age with a High School diploma or GED
Hold a valid Colorado Driver’s license and eligible to work in the U.S.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Submit a completed Elk Creek Volunteer Application between July 1st & August 15th
Attend an interview and Elk Creek EMS-CPAT on Tuesday Aug 21st at 7:00pm
Pass both an Elk Creek Provided physical exam and background check
EMS ACADEMY and REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
American Heart Association BLS-CPR, Saturday September 15th (if needed)
Colorado Medical 1st Responder class, Wednesday evenings Sept 5th through Oct 24th (if needed)
Elk Creek EMS Academy classes; Wednesday evenings Nov 7th and 14th (required)
Colorado HazMat Awareness class; Mon Nov 19th and Wed Nov 28th (if needed)
Complete FEMA’s online I-100, I-200, and I-700 (if needed)
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
Obtain all required certifications
Complete Elk Creek specific EMS in-service training based on EMS certification level
Complete Elk Creek / Saint Anthony’s clearance to operate (EMT-B, I, and P)
EMS-PROVIDER REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain current the following certifications:
· BLS-CPR
· Colorado EMS 1st Responder or higher (Colorado’s EMT-B, I, or P)
· Colorado HazMat Awareness or higher (Operations)
· Annual HIPAA, Infection Control, and Diversity Awareness training
Respond to at least 10% of the 911 calls & at least 12-hours of scheduled in station shift work per month
Actively participate in work details, duty details, and department trainings (1st & 3rd Tuesday evenings)
Actively participate in Elk Creek’s Heath & Wellness Program
May enter Elk Creek’s Driver Program at the Ambulance level
