Since Pinecam and I parted ways, they have never asked me for advice. Not once.
I have previously advocated what CG suggests: keep the current forum database and lock it as a historical record of this community and start the new database fresh.
Imagine if it were a new library. Would they really throw out all the old books to make room for new ones?
It sounds to me like they don't know what they're doing. It is easiest to throw out all the old books, as they have no attachment or interest in them. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead and all that.
They should just delete all the posts of the banned users. That ought to make the new server happy.They should also delete our user name from the ranks of poster numbers.
My very old squirrel thread, long before this site started, was deleted long ago. 5 pages. I am not complaining just reporting. It has to be hard to decide on what to delete. But I still think it is unnecessary.
