We went down to the federal courthouse today; a friend was becoming a US citizen. I saw lots of happy, smiling, proud faces this afternoon. People from 26 different countries took the proper steps, put in the time and effort to take the oath and become US citizens.
Congratulations Junco !!!!!!!!
I had never been to a naturalization ceremony, if you haven’t ever been I heartily recommend it.
Editorial comment >>>>To those illegals who want to stay in the US, yet don’t make the effort to become legal citizens, suck it up, go home and quit being a parasite. Yes it takes, time, money, and effort, but doesn’t anything that is worth a damn? I just witnessed people from some of the poorest most oppressed regions in the world achieve their part of the American dream.
Edit to add:
I wasn’t going to add the editorial comment but then I thought back to the effort, time and money those new citizens just put out to become legal US citizens, and the thought of the millions who are here yet don’t care enough to make the effort PO’d me. They are here illegally, the suck up government benefits, they take jobs from citizens, their allegiance is to their home country not to the US. No, I will continue to call illegals, illegals. If any one of them were to return to their home country and come here legally I would welcome them.
Road crew maybe you should move this to the Courthouse I really meant this to be a post about a wonderful event.

By that logic drunk drivers would be more properly referred to as "temporarily impaired motorists." Non-citizens who have entered our country without going through Immigration and Naturalization have broken the law; non-citizens who are here illegally are Illegal Aliens.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

My dear friend from Brazil did this as well when she became a US citizen . It is a wonderful thing to see. I remember giving my kids the speech at Mount Rushmore when they were younger they would roll their eyes at how much I loved the night ceremony. I am a very patriotic person. If you looked around the place there were way more people there from other countries than US citizens. I could not believe it. And tried to impress on them how if those people from other countries were so interested in it how could they take their country for granted?
