Flight For Life helicopter service needs new chopper, takes flight for fundraiser
On Feb. 9, 1979, seven years after Flight For Life became the United States' first civilian, hospital-based emergency medical helicopter service, a flight team arrived at a car crash site near Conifer.
They found Denver University student Becky Lynn (now Becky Morris), 19, bloodied and dazed after an oncoming car crossed the road and slammed into her car head-on. Her neck was broken. Her ankle was shattered. Her head was split open. They stabilized her and hustled her, still conscious, onto the helicopter.
"I remember being in the helicopter," said Morris, now married to music promoter Chuck Morris.
