So what you're saying is "screw 'em, the corporation and its employees failed so let them fail." How very conservative of you! Maybe you have turned the corner and come back to reality after all?

I thought Democrats were job creators and job preservers, I must have missed some details along the way. I see a time line that looks a lot like Gubment Motors history, minus a Gubment bailout. I guess Hostess wasn't too big to fail, I'm sure that's a great comfort to the 18,500 employees who just got their pink slips. Good thing the Union stood their ground. Do Union members continue to get strike pay after their former employer goes out of business?

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I remember enjoying Wonder Bread and an occasional cupcake or twinkie when young. But they were never a big deal with me other than the apple fruit pie.

I still enjoy the apple fruit pie now and then. The supermarkets copied them, but they still were not nearly as good as the original.

I don't know, blame it on who you want. But when a company has gone to Chapter 11, and the union still goes on strike, what other solution is there? Are no jobs better than a lesser job, especially in this economy?

Watching the news tonight I thought it was funny because they blamed it on how unhealthy the Hostess products are. Yes they are. But then they listed the current the top ten snacks and they weren't much better. Doritos anyone? I'll take the apple pie, even with the sugar. tongue:

Hey, I only have one about 6 times a year. Too bad I didn't save the company.

Has anyone seen some of the union demands placed on Hostess?
WonderBread and Twinkies cannot be shipped on the same truck....WTH

Forbes noted earlier this year that those union contracts required numerous superfluous jobs and redundant expenses that made Hostess too inefficient. For example, bread and snack cakes, even if they were heading to the same destination, had to go in separate trucks.

Greed at the top comes from both sides of the aisle.

Forbes is not the bible of business, although many people like to think so. And we know which side they espouse. If the unions did make many concessions, but Hostess didn't reinvest the savings in the business, then why blame the union?

Looks like the baker's union is now willing to go back to the bargaining table. 93% wages are better than no wages.

Sucks to be the people who bought Twinkies on E-bay for $100 a case.

And even if that doesn't happen, Bimbo is looking into buying the brands.

Actually the bankruptcy judge is requiring the parties to try mediation before he will consider the equity owner's request for bankruptcy protection.
