Smart phone apps (geology)

I just stumbled onto the fact that one of the things that makes my smart phone smarter than me is the apps.
Apparently there are a million or maybe a billion..

For me a killer app would be able to see my location and show the geologic history of the area. Anyone know if one exists?

If not any geologists who want to develop one? I have no Idea what the market would be but it is something I would buy.

You need to search for geology apps. Like the one below. There are a lot out there geologic history of certain areas (Hawaiian Islands), and a lot out there for people looking for oil and gas. After a quick search, I didn't see any specifically like what you are looking for.

I didn't either - lots of geology apps, lots of history of geology apps, lots of history apps, and even some that incorporate geography but none that include geology. It's an untapped area waiting for development!

But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

There is one if you happen to be in the UK, does not appear to cover the US yet.

iGeology - Interactive geological mapping of the UK.
iGeology is for anyone who wants to explore their local geology, at street-level scale, virtually anywhere in the UK.
Amateur geologists, walkers and gardeners can look at what’s in their local area, to find out about the rocks at the surface (superficial deposits) or the bedrock beneath.
Search on place names or the postcode where you live, then click on the map and reveal the rocks beneath your feet. iGeology will locate your phone (if GPS is enabled) and zoom to your location.
Drag the person icon onto the map for a 3D view of the geological landscape.
The maps use the British Geological Survey’s national scale (1:625 000) and ‘Landranger’ scale (1:50 000) geological datasets of the United Kingdom (UK).
Map coverage
5% of 1:50000 scale data is unavailable for England, Scotland and Wales.
Only 1:625 000 scale data is available for Northern Ireland.
iGeology is intended for non-commercial use e.g. private study, research and educational activities. For commercial use of BGS data email: .
