I work with one of the responders. The hikers were in jeans and t-shirts :bash . And of course, reports are that the hikers were cheeseheads.

In one of the earlier evening reports 9 news said that some were in t-shirts so that they could be more visible to rescuers and that they gave their clothes to the injured to stay warm.

Look at the rock wall they chose. Maybe summer would have been a better choice.
