Tucked in among towering ponderosa pines, Baehrden stands sentry over Pine Lake. The 27-room lodge was built for Chicago executive William Baehr and his family in 1927. Since acquiring the lodge with the 820-acre property in 1986, Jefferson County Open Space has worked to preserve its exterior. After extensive interior restoration, we plan to invite visitors to step into Baehrden and step back in time on June 2 through Labor Day weekend.

My firm represents Jefferson County in a current lawsuit in Jefferson County District Court, Corbett v. Jefferson County. The lawsuit involves a dispute over the ownership of part of the Pine Valley Ranch Open Space, south of Pine Junction. Specifically, the suit involves property at the western end of the Open Space's Narrow Gauge Trail, adjacent to a bend in the North Fork of the South Platte River. The neighboring landowner, Corbett, is claiming ownership all the way down to the river. If he is successful, he would cut off public access to the stream along this stretch of the Narrow Gauge Trail.
I am contacting you because I am looking for members of the public who use and/or have used this stretch of the Narrow Gauge Trail for fishing or hiking, and who might be willing to step up to protect the public's right to use the trail. Their testimony would be useful to support the County's defenses of adverse possession and prescriptive use, in order to keep the trail open. The trial is currently set for June 4, 2013 in Jefferson County District Court.
I look forward to hearing from you. My contact information is below.
Thanks,
