I had to mark this. One year ago today and the week after I was covering this fire (practically 24/7) as were others and I am grateful to them all.

It was the most terrifying thing I had covered until the Aurora shooting. I also heard the major mistakes being made real time, as scanners see things from afar and pick up on more than the state sees as they are too close! Since the fire, Colorado has disappointed me in many ways. First, the mistakes (especially in the evac discrepancies). There were calls for evacs on the scanner 2 hours before they were actually made publicly as far as what I heard as I heard them on the scanner but never heard them officially . People were being told to stop calling 911! I believe this contributed to the confusion and for those who died it very well could have been a factor. There were other mistakes and confusion that I heard, which sometimes happens in a fire. However, I am telling you, I think officials were very much unprepared. I do believe there were many people who were amazing heroes that day but as a whole it needs to be fixed. And the aftermath has just been one big cover up because the fire was started by Colorado and the liability could be huge. That is the only reason I can come up with for their behavior since. Sorry, but I just gotta keep it real. It is good that the LNFF.info people are still putting on the pressure because Colorado has done everything they can to get everyone to forget what happened. And I don't think the proper changes have been made yet to fix the problems. JMO

I just feel it is important to mark this day, for me it was one of the hardest things I had covered yet. I took a week out of my life because I believe Communites Bound sites can be important and you know what? Since the state dropped the ball in this case it is even more important.

As you know from the Hayman fire and others, this area is still vulnerable and probably always will be. I don't think they have fixed much because of the conflict of interest. I hope you all keep up the good fight in this.

Kind regards,

Cinnamongirl.

Replied by homeagain on topic I won't forget.
Make no mistake about it -- enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true.” -Adyashanti......PLEASE read the above closely. THEN understand that
the lack of integrity/responsibility/honesty is a disease within our society....the fire is NO different than the sub par levy s
in N.O. and the subsequent breaching of those levy s.....it was a KNOWN factor before the storm and N.O. is NO WHERE
near whole again. (Thank you delmarey for the above quote)

The systematic break-down of our government's responsibilities (think how the vet's are being ignored/inundated with
paperwork and then being "shelved") is NOT new/nor is it an isolated occurrence......THIS fire we are remembering is just
ANOTHER fuber in a VERY LONG line of fubars that have not been remedied/resolved......JMO
