Morrison brush fire contained; cigarette suspected

The 'Dakota Ridge Fire' was first reported just after 2 p.m. on the shoulder of eastbound C470 at Morrison Road. It quickly raced uphill, burning dry grass and trees from the bottom to the top of the ridge.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, the location of the initial flames -being next to a roadway- indicates that it was likely caused by a discarded cigarette butt.
