Lisa Hildago tweeted this just a bit ago. I like that little section that comes over to 285 just above the Conifer label. I believe that is probably Conifer Mtn.

Nope.
Closed is closed from what I hear. Most ski areas are on Forest Service Land leases that have specific dates based on historic wildlife migration patterns. I don't know what it would cost a resort to file for a lease extension or if that is even possible, but they would need to balance that cost out with the expected income for a limited number of guests and increase seasonal maintenance. I guess since it is public land, you could possibly hike up on your own but the trails would be ungroomed and not patrolled.
Apsen will extend their season for an additional week only. Winter Park, Loveland and A-Basin are your only choices.
These last 3 will be PACKED this weekend for sure.
KOA said a couple were going to open only for this weekend. And Breckenridges own website says they will be back open
Sometimes it is more snow determining close dates than the Feds.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
One theory has it that the Forest Service wanted the ski areas to re-open so that boarders and skiers would have a safer place to go. Close the ski areas and more will be tempted to go back country in avalanche areas. Prayers sent to the families of the five and others caught up in the avalanche.

"It was supposed to be a mellow, low-key day with no risk," McKernan said. "We talked about just enjoying it and making sure we get back to the parking lot and drink some beer together. It wasn't supposed to end this way."
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
