We're looking for recommendations for appliance shopping.... Its time to replace the aging appliances in our kitchen. It's been such a long time since we have done this we don't know where the best prices /customer service can be found beyond the obvious Home Depot and Lowes.

I like Sears, good selection and prices. They also do service up here.

I've heard from several people that COSTCO is excellent.

They are, unfortunately they have limited choices, and most of them are high end appliances.

It looks like Home Depot and Lowes have already started Memorial day appliance sales with 10% off items over about $400. But you can do better than 10%.

It doesn't look like Sears has started their Memorial Day sale, but in the past they've had good appliance prices. You might see 15% or 20% off, sometimes even more. I don't recall if the sale has a minimum item price, sometimes you get the best discount with multiple items (3 or 4 or more).

If Sears doesn't have a big Memorial Day sale, keep waiting if you can. There should be one by summer where all kitchen appliances (with possibly the above caveats) are discounted around 20%.

What I have found so far is 10% off at Lowes or Home Depot is better than 20% off at Sears or Best Buy. We have done a lot of research and know what we want, so it's going to mean some shopping and negotiating. I haven't heard anything good about The Factory Warehouse, so we may give them a pass.

I've purchased appliances from both Sears and Home Depot after comparing them, so I guess it depends on what you are looking for and when.

Another possibility that I haven't tried would be to check the internet prices here. They have free shipping on total orders over $999 for Memorial Day. Maybe check eBay as well...

when we redid our kitchen, we bought it all from Lowes. We negotiated better prices because we were buying both stove and dishwasher

We need stove, fridge, and dishwasher..... At least when you shop locally you have the opportunity to negotiate prices

if you are planning on "shopping" this weekend, you should do your homework BEFORE you go. they will be overwhelmed with shoppers. If you know what you want, then just go in and tell the sales person, LOOK we are ready to purchase, you don't need to spend a bunch of time with us, BUT we want a better deal. If they can't do it, ask for the store manager.
