We need volunteers at Castle Rock's Twisted Trail Stables to help care for the dozens and dozens of animals brought in last night during the Black Forest fire. They are from the Black Forest Animal Sanctuary, and were literally dropped off in the middle of the night. Most of the sanctuary volunteers either lost their homes or have been evacuated, so we need Castle Rock residents to step up! Nancy DeVaney is the owner of Twisted Trail. She has Parkinsons, and pretty much runs the stables on her own- this can get a bit overwhelming on her own. If people can lend an hour or so, or bring by animal feed- great. She took in pregnant cattle, horses, ponies including a 3 day old colt, wonderful dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, chickens, turkey, McCaw birds, lizard, pigs, sheep, goats, etc. Call Nancy at 303 249 0363 or myself (Ann).
Directions: take Wilcox south past Plum Creek Pkwy down the frontage road running on the east side of I25. About 1.5 miles after Medved (third driveway on the left after Crystal Valley Pkwy), you will see the stables (white buildings with blue trim). Nancy DeVaney is the owner- stop on over and lend a hand!
Thank you so much Serenity. I know you guys know what this is like. Smoke is blowing up my nose here at home.
