Here we go again...

Starting to grumble and light rain here in DCVR.

But I am ready got the tomatoes that are not in the green house (containers) under cover and also my flowers.

Don't get me wrong I am not complaining about the rain I could do without the hail though. My guess since I am home and ready for it there will be no hail today.

I bet in the front of our house (where the dogs can't get) we have mushrooms that are almost a foot across. I find mushrooms very cool (no comments from the peanut gallery) we have many varieties I keep thinking I might find a little Gnome under one of them (again no comments from the peanut gallery) as they look like something from a fairytale.

I have found that putting my thunder issue dog in a room with the TV turned up helps considerably. A loud stereo would probably work too. I can mask the thunder that way, unfortunately if he can see the lightning he is smart enough to know there is thunder too.

Thanks Archer, same issue here. Smart enough but she still senses the barometric change.

Sorry the Thunder Shirt did not work for you. With Bella she puts on her shirt and while she is still uneasy she does not try and hide in every corner she can find.

She will stay close to us but she is still ok now no shaking.

Maybe the combo of a Thunder Shirt and the natural spays that calms them might work.

I don't think Bella will ever not feel afraid but if I can calm her that to me is better than the total shaking and hiding and acting like she might die thing.

Around here what we do is turn on the fan and a light in the bathroom and let the puppy ride out the storm in there. The white noise of the fan seems to be helpful in minimizing her anxiety. Doesn't do away with it, but at least she has a place that she will stay put until the storm passes.

medical marijuana ???

No seriously, I read an article a couple of months ago from a vet that said that medical marijuana helped many dogs with anxiety issues. I was intrigued because of our male bully and his issues.

Well the rain held off until we got the horse chores done.

Frogger not sure I would know how much to give to a pup and I doubt you could get a prescription. Before the Thunder Shirt we just built Bella a little fort that was dark and had a nice pillow.

With her shirt she does not hide now.

12 hours of rain in Jefferson. The hay and flowers are loving this. Myself? Glad to have the moisture but wish I could schedule it at night.

I think I replied to this thread early on but now none of my posts are here... Oh well, the weather has been very nice today and while I hope pacamom's Saturday wasn't ruined by the rain, I am really loving the cooler temps and the moisture!

Wundermutt will sit right next to me when we go birding and even shoot me a dirty look if I shoot but no dead birds fall from the sky. He's not a fan of fireworks but he doesn't freak out, he just becomes my shadow. Thunder? Does any one consider a 112 pound Rottweiler/Black Lab mix a lap dog? The same dog that doesn't hesitate to charge after a black bear is totally incapacitated by thunder. So far a couple pet ease tablets (hidden in some cheese of course) seem to do the job but as he gets older I'm worried about the long term effects of drugging him every time a few rain drops fall.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
