Have there been any updates on how the two are doing? I saw the most recent Flume article. Too bad speed had to be a factor. Two lives changed forever.

Not much info.
I think both are still hospitalized. One with a brain injury. 1 with a spinal injury. Very sad.

Thank you frogger. I read about brain trauma for Marissa. Had no idea what happened to Tyler other than serious injuries and it was going to take some time to recover. Positive thoughts and prayers.

VL made some harsh comments in another thread. Really they have some merit.

There have been a number of young people who drive their vehicles in an unsafe manner on the roads of Burland and elsewhere. Residents are aware of it, parents have been made aware of it and the Sheriff's Dept is aware of it. Now granted most of the complaints had to do with an older sibling and friends but the younger would sit shotgun with his cap on backwards and watch all the goings on waiting until he was old enough to drive. And it doesn't just pertain to driving. There are a multitude of things that shouldn't be happening.

Please parents be responsible and know where your young adults are and what they are doing. If you have been told there is a problem don't dismiss it. If you have been told about other issues, don't dismiss it. If you have to ride with them for them to behave or deny them driving privileges or be with them 24/7 for them to behave, do it. They are a danger not only to themselves but to others.

A very hard lesson for this younger sibling to have to learn.

Neighbors shouldn't have to wait until they grow up and move away. Parents be responsible.

I agree wP. I listened to the scanner that night. I don't have any issue with people expressing concerns. As a matter of fact, I think it can help parents to understand just how serious the consequences are for poor driving habits of their children. VL just made what I felt were some crass comments but what's new lol .
The fact that a dangerous driver had a history was not a problem at all. There were also other issues that night that perhaps need to be addressed involving what was also found in the car. I would prefer to see that issue come out through more official sources.

No... he made some disgusting comments on another thread.

Vice Lord wrote: I heard some things about this- I don't want to put it on the accident thread cause I don't want to upset anybody in that family, but when I inquired about this I heard he was the worst driver on earth..Lil Precious told me that "he's the one coming up the hill like its the Baja 1000 spinning his tires, throwing rocks and fish tailing up our switch back everyday". A neighbor told me that he actually said to his wife once that "that kid needs to die"..He felt bad about saying that now..Another neighbor told my wife once that "that kid is going to kill someone someday"

I feel really bad for the girl- And if I were her parents, I don't know what i'd do to this kid once he got better

Vice Lord wrote: Frogger-He was a freakin maniac driver. I got it direct from 7 sources and one time I was looking for a big rock to throw at him as he drove by my dog at 50 (?) mph on a curvy dirt road

Like my wife said "That was the guy!"

VL sling craps and some people just pick it up like it was a gold-plated-seven-course-meal. A word of advice "don't swallow."

Thanks WLN, in most instances I take VL with a grain of salt. But in this instance there is a huge amount of truth to what he says. I objected to how he said it not what he said.

Frogger there is a lot more to that night than most are aware of.

Which brings up another issue. When you have guests in your home, parents supervise them especially when they have been in trouble with the law in the past. They do not belong wandering on other people's property engaged in activities you would not allow in your home if you have any sense as to what they are up to.

If the trespassers for the Hi Meadow fire had been supervised there wouldn't have been one. We are headed the same direction with all the fallout from parents who can't/won't supervise their young adults and their guests with breakins, illegal drugs, trespassing, campfires, etc. It is disturbing when I receive an email from a neighbor saying to be aware because of young trespassers doing illegal things. Where are the parents?

I think every single teen-ager should have to visit some kind of medical facility and/or talk with teens that have changed or damaged their lives by their actions. It may not prevent these types of accidents from happening all together, but if it prevents one, well that's at least one life saved.
