And just last weekend I was on a hike in the foothills and the normal creek where I water the dogs was bone dry. The dogs drank half of my bottled water instead.

Photo-fish wrote: Army Corp of Engineers have closed the spillway gates at Bear Creek Reservoir and the reservoir elevation could increase another 8-9 feet. This will change the water quality within that reservoir. Bear Creek is flooding into Bear Creek Reservoir at over 700 cfs now. This flow is about 25 times greater than long-term average.

From Evergreen Parks & Rec :

EPRD, Water Board Urge Community to Stay Away from Bear Creek
Water flow highest since 1998

Greetings!

Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) and the Evergreen Metropolitan District are urging the public to stay away from Bear Creek because of safety concerns created by high water levels.

Water District General Manager Gerry Schulte says that as of this morning, Bear Creek was running as high as 400 cubic feet per second (CFS), which is the highest level it has reached since 1998. He says 100 CFS is considered high flow.

The trail along Bear Creek from the parking lot to the bridge across from Lakepoint Center is closed because of flooding.

With predictions of continued rain through the next week, the dangerously high water levels are not expected to drop anytime soon.

For more information, contact the Water District at 303-674-4112 or . , or EPRD at 720-880-1010 or . . You can also watch for updates on EPRD's website, http://www.evergreenrecreation.com .

The e-gauge in Bear Creek Lake Park reads: Value exceeds maximum value provided by Rating Table.
So it is over 1000 cfs.

600 cfs coming into Evergreen Lake!

If you know anyone in Idledale or Kittredge, wake them up!

Good night to have the weather radio powered up and bug out bag at the ready, might be a better idea to move to higher ground now than wait until later. Best wishes to all for a safe, dry night.
