EVERGREEN AREA EXPERIENCING FLOODING
Status report as of Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 11:45 am.
All of the Evergreen Metropolitan District facilities are operational. District crews are working on issues at the wastewater facilities as a result of the extreme high flows. Crews are also inspecting the water and sewer systems located along Bear Creek and other low lying areas for critical breaks. So far, none have been found. There are sections of Upper Bear Creek still inundated by flood waters. The downtown area is still closed to vehicle traffic. Areas of Kittredge were inspected and no breaks in the system have been found at this time. The drinking water storage capacity of the Evergreen system is very good. We have increased the dosage of chlorine in the treatment process; although there may be a chlorine taste and or odor, the drinking water is safe and will remain safe. The Evergreen Dam is being monitored on a continual basis and is safe; there is no threat of failure of the dam. The District will be updating information periodically through the day.
