We left our home last Thursday the 12th headed to Nebraska to spend some time at the lake. We were very surprised with all that what going on that our trip down I76 was uneventful we had no issues with any flooding in Denver or on I76.
We returned home today and well, all I can say is WOW to see the river in some areas a ½ mile wide is just beyond belief not to mention the number of homes we could see were flooded.
We watched all that was happening in Evergreen via the website and on the news and are thankful that we were only closed for one day and while sales have been slower we still very much know that things can be a lot worse.
I still feel while I watch things that are on TV there is a buffer zone but when you are that close to it the reality of it all sets in needless to say we were pretty quiet the rest of the way home just thankful we had a home to go to.
Our thoughts go out to all that are have been affected by the floods.
Humbling is the right word. Seeing the damage first hand is nothing less than humbling. I have the highest respect for the first responders and volunteers who never fail to put themselves in harms way to help the victims. It's going to take some time before the flooding subsides and it will take even more time for the recovery to begin. Donate or volunteer if you can, lots of people are depending on it.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Call it what you want VL I am happy to be home and know that our state has been hit with yet another blow but I also know that I will do what I can to help not only in my own community but in others.
My heart goes out to all who are going through these tough times.

Amen, I hope that we see a resurgence in volunteerism and some appreciation from those who were spared damage from the recent storms and fires. Now would be a great time for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Explorers and 4H to take on service projects and help where they can, even if the efforts are small and local. I know small and medium businesses are hurting and they aren't always in a position to help but I'm going to lobby my current employer to either donate funds and materials and/or match employee donations. I have always said that hard times bring out the best in good people, I hope the near future proves me right.

I agree, when things don't look so good people rise to up to help.
Hubby's work matches all donations but we need to make sure they are a none profit (we have to fill out a form) but will also look at helping out those that need a little extra help cleaning up.
I'd rather just fund non profit government agencies like FEMA which costs each taxpayer like 36 cents a year....while our military spending costs each of us thousands and tens of thousands.
