All of Apple’s previous major iOS releases, including iOS 6.0, were released to public at 10am PT. If the release schedules of previous versions of iOS are anything to go by, it is safe to say that iOS 7 will be released to public today at 10am PT / 1pm ET in the United States.

What to Do Before Downloading iOS 7
By Samantha Murphy Kelly20 hours ago

Apple is launching its iOS 7 software on Wednesday, and if we've learned anything from major system updates in the past, there will be kinks. The last thing you'd want is to have your pictures, music and other files wiped along the way.

before you download iOS, we suggest doing a manual back up. To do so, follow the same steps as above (Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage) and then click "Back Up Now."

For those with a ton of data you might not be able to complete the backup — you'll have to either transfer files (photos, etc.) via an Apple connector to a computer, delete a few apps you haven't used in awhile, or make room elsewhere.

You'll probably run into the same issue when trying to update iOS 7 if your device is near storage capacity, so you might want to clean house now.

I'm loving some of the new ringtones available!

Interesting... Itunes couldn't fine an available update. I did a back up, then went to the Iphone itself... settings>general>software updates and it saw IOS 7 available... downloading it now directly to the Iphone.

I've never had to do it that way before. Itunes ALWAYS saw the updates, automatically backed up the phone, saved the new IOS to the computer and then updated FROM THE IMAGE ON THE COMPUTER.

Update... their servers must be slammed... the Wifi download directly to the Iphone failed after about 3 minutes.

I never had these problems before.

It should be a fun day trying to get this... and I have an Ipad to do next.

Ok... some new info from me.

I couldn't get Itunes to SEE the new update.

So... I told Itunes to back up the iphone.

I made sure Wifi was turned on on the phone (or you could use your phone provider data connection)

Then on the phone I went to settings>general>software update

And the phone saw an update available.

I had to try three times before the download successfully completed (the APPLE servers are slammed).

Currently the Iphone is preparing and completing the upgrade.

I'll report back in a bit.

Make sure your Itunes is upgraded to version 11.1.0... IOS 7 will not work with past versions (that may be why my Itunes could not see the IOS 7 upgrade).

Good fair review (which means it validates my opinions)... it may not agree with your opinions of IOS 7

I finally got my devices switched over and so far I'm not liking the new iCal - I can only view weekly appointments as a list and the monthly view doesn't show the details at the bottom like it used to - only a dot below a day that has something scheduled (which with the automatic additions of Facebook events means I have a dot almost every day so it's useless). Does anyone use another calendar app that they recommend?

The things you can ask Siri are kind of fun - I wish I had hours to kill and a creative imagination to think up totally random questions! I'm definitely going to ask where the planes above me are going though.

Siri got a ton of improvements in iOS 7 and a bunch of new features as well. Now, you can ask it all sorts of things, from launching apps to getting sports scores. Redditor Cheeziz_Chrust put together a list of pretty much everything you can ask Siri these days .
