How low will it go?

How low will it go?

Depending on which news channel or website you go to depends on what you are going to believe.

Some are saying a low as 7000 feet but I am not so sure of that. According to our GPS we are at 8800 feet and if the rain moves in I can see getting a rain snow mix in the morning but no accumulation since it will be late morning my guess is that it will be too warm.

I will say I took some time out today to clean the horses up and give them an extra treat or two. Scout my mare has quite the beard growing even though she is an all American Quarter Horse she is quite the European when it comes to facial hair.

So what are your guesses inquiring minds want to know?

Happy Fall!

I'm going to confess up front that I cheated and checked the NWS site earlier today, they are predicting the snow level will come down around 8000 feet on Friday night. How often does the NWS get it right when they make predictions for the 285 corridor? I'm guessing more often than not. Despite that, I'm willing to bet that we'll know more if/when the prediction is revised tomorrow.

I'll go with snow for sure Friday night at 8000 feet with isolated pockets of rain/snow mix as low as 6800 feet. Either way the best seasons of the year are upon us! Enjoy the colors while they last and get ready for SNOW!

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

We're at 8800 and there has been a good covering of snow on Rosalie last week......so-o-o,my
guess.....just enough snow/sleet to bring my flower gardens to an end.....but THEN....Indian
summer starts.......we got the wood stacked and covered, snow shovels ready by the side of
the garage.....ready as we ever will be.

Dang it! Are you trying to jinx the snow?! Leave one of the windows on your car open overnight, wash said car early tomorrow morning, and pay the extra cash to have the car detailed inside and out! That should be enough to ensure that we get plenty of sloppy rain/snow mix turning to snow late on Friday night. Should make for plenty of mud and sloppy roads and really dirty car, shoes/boots, and mutts wanting to come inside to warm up and dry off (and bring in the mud from outside).

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Up at Summit Lake today. 32 mph winds and wind chill at 14 degrees. I threw my first snowball of the season. Many leaves turning fast in the valley after the wet weeks.
I'd call for snow at about 8,000, but only a dusting.

See.....HERE'S the deal...I lived in Alaska.....the "squirrel" mentality is STRONG....like clock work,
Mid Sept to late Sept,NO later than the first week of Oct......I'm nutso trying to "button up" the
house,yard,garage.....it takes about 2 weeks( I have ALOT of yard art/garden art)....wood is
ready on the porch, kindling all chopped up, pellets brought up from shed, hoses drained and stored. It drives my DH nuts...."You're doing it again....you're in your squirrel mode." :smackshead:
