Elk Creek Fire Department Open House

Elk Creek Fire Department will be hosting a Community Open House on Saturday, October 12, 2013, 11:00AM to 1:00PM, at Elk Creek Station 1, 11993 Blackfoot Road, Conifer.

All ages are welcome! There will be something for everyone:

· Station Tours: See where the firefighters live and work

· Apparatus Tours: Explore Fire Engines and Tankers (Kids young and old love Fire Engines. Come and learn about them. Sit in them, see what's in all those compartments)

· Fire Extinguisher Training (Don't miss this Free Public Education Extinguisher Training. Having a fire extinguisher in your home is good, knowing how to use it is great!)

· BBQ donated by local businesses and cooked for you by firefighters

This is a great opportunity to meet the firefighters, see the station and the equipment and learn about what it’s like to be an Elk Creek Firefighter.

We've been reading a lot about Elk Creek Fire Department lately. Seems opinions vary greatly. I've done my best to read everything, and frankly: I think I know less now than when I started.

But here is an opportunity to really get the facts about Elk Creek, see their facilities, see their trucks and meet the firefighters face to face.
For myself, I think I can learn more in half an hour, standing in their building, and looking them in the eye than I could from spending the next week reading heated rants on line.

I'm going to venture down to their Station at 11993 Blackfoot Road, Conifer, between 11:00AM and 1:00PM and see what I can find out. Besides, they say they're going to have free hot dogs, so no matter what, it won't be a wasted trip.

I hope all you free thinking folks will join me. Let's go see if anything we've been told, good or bad is even remotely true.

There is already another thread that is more professional in The Campfire FF.

And in another thread it indicates that you really won't be getting any facts about ECFD questions at the open house. So apparently you aren't too well informed and won't necessarily be by attending the Open House.
